Japan: Rockers to Descend on the Fuji Rock Festival

Don’t let the serene setting fool you—the Fuji Rock Festival is all about making noise. This year held from July 27 to 29 amid the forested mountains of Naeba Ski Resort, the three-day event has become the largest event of its kind in Japan. Hundreds of local and international musicians will take to the stage this year, including The Stone Roses, Radiohead, and Beady Eye.

Interestingly, the first Fuji Rock Festival—which took place in 1997 at the base of Mt. Fuji—had to be cancelled half way through Red Hot Chili Peppers’ performance due to a typhoon. The event has been going strong since it was relocated to Naeba (not anywhere close to Mt. Fuji) in 1999.
