Dutch flag carrier KLM has confirmed that from April next year it will be the first airline for decades to fly between Europe and the Japanese city of Fukuoka. Reservations for the new service are now available.
It will be a thrice-weekly service, with flight KL869 departing Schipol, Amsterdam on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday with flight KL870 taking off from Fukuoka on Monday, Thursday, and Sunday. The flight will be operated by a Boeing 777-200ER, which has a capacity for 318 passengers. The new route will make Fukuoka—a city famous for its motsunabe—the third destination for KLM in Japan, after Osaka and Tokyo.
