Medical Tourism: a Resort-Based Center in Singapore

Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands integrated resort has already put itself on the map for gaming, shopping, and fine dining. With the February opening of the MW Medical Centre (65/6220-0622; mwmedical.com.sg), it can now boast 24-hour health care, too.

Situated just above the ice rink at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, the 372-square-meter clinic is perfectly positioned to treat the sprains and bruises of over-ambitious skaters. Its primary focus, though, is on catering to the medical needs of time-pressed executives based in the Central Business District, and tending to the legions of business and leisure travelers who pass through Marina Bay Sands and other nearby hotels.

A wide range of on-site services is available around the clock, ranging from routine medical screenings and travel immunizations to X-rays, lab tests, and physical therapy. The clinic also provides a medical concierge service, arranging appointments with specialists across Singapore, providing interpreters, and generally ensuring a hassle-free experience.

MW Medical also offers mobile services, dispatching doctors, nurses, and physical therapists any time of the day or night. Business travelers can schedule a doctor’s appointment between meetings or arrange to have prescriptions delivered to a boardroom, while holidaymakers can get their health care needs met without ever leaving their hotel rooms. –Angela Leenhouts
