The Shangri-La has unveiled its third luxury hotel in Shanghai on the Puxi side of the Huangpu River, located in the heart of the city. The 508-room hotel is the resides in of the new 4.8 million square feet Jing An Kerry Centre, a retail and office development.
What’s stunning about the property is the seemingly suspended water droplets encasing the lobby. Crystals are used as primary architectural elements in the hotel – from the thick canopy of lighted crystal rods covering the entranceway to the draping of crystal sheets reaching from floor to ceiling in the lobby.
The hotel’s restaurants caters to the ever evolving Shanghai palette with an opulent Chinese restaurant, an American-style steak house, a Mediterranean restaurant, and the pan-Asian Café LIANG offering all-day dining in a casual setting.
The hotel also boasts the largest ballroom in West Shanghai at nearly 19,000 square feet and a 30 feet high ceiling. The room is accentuated with glittering glass rods, crystal panels, and, of course, more floating crystal clouds.
