In honor of Queen Elizabeth, Heathrow Airport announced that its new Terminal 2 will be named after Her Majesty. Dubbed “Terminal 2: The Queen’s Terminal,” it is set to be completed in November of this year then will undergo six months of testing, including 182 trials by 14,000 people, before it officially opens on June 4, 2014.

“The Queen opened the original Terminal 2 more than half a century ago and we’re delighted that Her Majesty has kindly agreed to give her name to the new Terminal 2,” said Heathrow’s Development Director John Holland-Kaye.

The Queen opened the old Terminal 2, then called the Europa Building, in 1955 just two years after her coronation. Airport officials said the new Terminal 2 will have a similar feel to the airport’s modern Terminal 5 and it will have new check-in and bag drop technology with a full array of shops and restaurants.
