Airline travel has been streamlined thanks to technological innovations. Guests can ditch paper tickets for boarding passes on smart phones, planes feature in-flight Wi-Fi and online check-in lets you skip the lines altogether. Lost luggage remains a major woe of air transit, but a new product from Airbus is set to eliminate those troubles.
“Bag2Go,” a so-called “smart bag,” will make misplaced baggage a thing of the past. The GPS, RFID and 2G mobile data enabled rolling suitcase allows travelers to track their suitcase from boarding to baggage claim using their smart phone. The bag even has a built-in scale, so on-the-go travelers can avoid overweight baggage fees.
Developed in partnership with mobile service provider T-Mobile and German luggage maker Rimowa, Bag2Go is still in early stages of development, so lookout for this game-changing technology’s launch. Smart bags will be available through order via the product’s mobile application.
