Starwood Hotels & Resorts has announced it will launch a dual-branded ski resort complex at northeast China’s Changbai Mountain range, near North Korea and Russia. Scheduled to open later this year, the complex will include the Sheraton Changbaishan and the Westin Changbaishan. Skiers will have access to both downhill and cross-country trails.
The 257-room Westin will offer ski-in/ski-out access, hot spring pools, and Korean and other dining options, plus a spa and kids club. The Sheraton, offering 296 room and 28 suites, will include a fitness center, heated indoor pool, and Chinese and international cuisine, as well as a business center and club lounge.
Among others the resorts will compete against the well-established Club Med Yabuli in the neighboring Heilongjiang Province.
