St. Regis Chengdu Opens Its Doors

In the capital of Sichuan Province, the St. Regis Chengdu has opened as the city’s latest luxury digs and the 33rd St. Regis hotel—opening exactly 110 years after the first debuted in New York in 1904. Located at the intersection of Chengdu’s business and shopping districts, the hotel counts 279 guest rooms and suites designed in a tasteful mix of Art Deco and traditional Sichuan design (think plush, low-back couches and glossy, lacquered tables). Six restaurants and lounges nod to Chengdu’s history as UNESCO’s first City of Gastronomy in Asia, serving everything from gourmet Cantonese and Sichuan cuisine in Yun Fu to afternoon tea in The Drawing Room and wine, liquor, and cigars in Decanter, Chengdu’s only wine bar that offers all three indulgences. Guests looking to unwind can book signature treatments in the Iridium Spa or lounge by the indoor and outdoor swimming pools—the St. Regis is Chengdu’s only hotel to offer both.
