W Maldives’ Reef Lights Up at Night

Ask any experienced diver and they’ll tell you seeing the reef in a new light is best done by night. After the sun falls into the Indian Ocean, W Retreat & Spa Maldives (Fesdu Island, North Ari Atoll; 960/666-2222) is taking guests on a snorkeling tour of its house reef, where the life on display is as different as, well, night and day. Armed with just snorkeling equipment and a black light, which clips on to the mask, guests are able to see the fluorescent coral and Technicolor marine life for one hour between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m..  The Down Under guided tour costs US$120.
