Never short on visual appeal, Siem Reap—the gateway town to Angkor Wat—will offer even more to see with the opening of the 7th Angkor Photo Festival. From November 19–26, 2011, visitors to the nearby Khmer ruins can also take in a collection of images from both new and established photographers from Asia and beyond.

This year’s festival will feature the work of more than 110 photographers—including 70 from Asia—and gives up-and-coming talents a chance to exhibit alongside the likes of Sebastiao Salgado and Getty photographer Paula Bronstein. A special pagoda is also devoted to the work of young shutterbugs from Anjali House, a community center that provides meals, education, and art training to local children.

Highlights of this year’s festival include a group exhibition of Asian street photography, eight evenings of outdoor slideshows, a special children’s day, and BLOWUP Angkor—a series of open exhibitions held in public spaces around Siem Reap.
