Australia: Goomeri Pumpkin Festival Slated for May 27

Pumpkins are rolled, weighed, dressed up, and cooked during the annual Goomeri Pumpkin Festival, one of Queensland’s quirkiest rural events, scheduled take place on May 27. Goomeri, a small farming community 200 kilometers northwest of Brisbane, attracts some 13,000 visitors during the event, which features quilt-making and whip-cracking demonstrations, competitions for the largest and best-decorated pumpkins, square dancing, and, the pièce de résistance, the Great Australian Pumpkin Roll.
