From a dreamy and elaborate Hobbit–themed video to one featuring professional surfers, Air New Zealand has continued to create in-flight safety instructions that strike just the right balance between entertaining and informative. This week, the carrier has again made waves online with its latest safety guide, teaming up with the country’s national rugby team, the All Blacks, for a groovy Men in Black–themed video.
Titled Men in Black Safety Defenders, it opens with All Blacks captain Richie McCaw and top fly-half Dan Carter taking orders from Rip Torn (reprising his role as MIB chief Zed) to help Air New Zealand keep their passengers safe. Other team members, including Sam Whitelock and Kevin Mealamu, appear later in the video to demonstrate the airline’s safety features, while rugby legends, such as former Australian rugby union player David Campese, former English player Martin Johnson, and retired Argentine player Augstin Pichot also make cameo appearances. The video also features Kiwi musician Stan Walker singing and dancing alongside All Blacks player Israel Dagg.
The video quickly became an Internet sensation, garnering over 1.2 million views just two days after it was published. It will be progressively available across Air New Zealand flights.
