Air New Zealand this week will be opening a new lounge at the Auckland International Airport. The airline has partnered with award-winning global architecture firm Gensler to design the 2,000 square-meter lounge that is set to accommodate more than 375 customers—a 40 percent increase of space from their previous lounge. Created with customers’ comfort and satisfaction in mind, the lounge is separated into several zones, including a business zone that is equipped with printing facilities, a new food theater, a central bar area offering barista-made coffee and alcoholic beverages, as well as a kids zone. The lounge features plenty of different styles of seating and an outdoor terrace overlooking the runway, complete with a fireplace.
“The challenge was to design a lounge that reflected the Air New Zealand brand, responded to the unique sense of place, and elevated the customer experience. We are optimistic we have achieved these goals and it’s very exciting to see the project completed,” Gensler principal architect David Loyola said.
