Japan’s new budget airline, AirAsia Japan, which will be based at Tokyo Narita International Airport, will begin flights between Tokyo and Fukuoka, and Tokyo and Sapporo on August 1, and between Tokyo and Okinawa on August 3. All flights will be operated on a fleet of Airbus A320 aircrafts. Flights to Seoul and Busan in South Korea are scheduled for take off in October.
“Our aim is to provide opportunities for everyone to fly with low fares. With the A320’s cabin comfort and operational reliability, we want to offer better access, in particular for the Japanese travelling public, and make them feel easy to fly,” said AirAsia Japan President Kazuyuki Iwakata.
The airline is a joint venture between Malaysia’s AirAsia and Japan’s All Nippon Airways.
