Fashion weeks are no doubt the most important period in the fashion calendar all over the world, and with editors, photographers, models, and a great many others involved in the creation of the shows zooming in and out of major cities to organize and attend shows, it is only natural that Etihad Airways has recently sealed a deal to become Fashion Week’s first-ever official airline. The airline is partnering with fashion week organizer WME/IMG to sponsor 17 of its events all over the world, starting with the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia, which is set to kick off on May 15. Other high-profile events are also set to follow, such as fashion weeks in New York, London, and Milan.
Aside from becoming the fashion fliers’ go-to airline, the sponsorship will also bring special fashion perks on board, such as designer amenities, live-streaming of runway shows, and premiers of fashion films on flights.
“This is a ground-breaking new partnership for Etihad Airways. Together with WME | IMG, we have created a unique marketing relationship that now connects the international fashion community across our key markets,” said James Hogan, Etihad Airways’ president and chief executive officer. “Fashion weeks and Etihad Airways represent an ideal brand fit, as we share attributes of being remarkable, ambitious and innovative. These characteristics are exemplified in our renowned service and hospitality offering. Likewise, design and style are important cultural interests to many of our guests.”
