Well known for her artistry in movies and TV commercials, Japan’s top food stylist Nami Iijima is lending her talents to Japan Airlines to create the carrier’s new autumn meals, which are set to be launched on September 1. Offered for JAL’s economy and premium economy passengers, the menu will feature braised meat and potatoes known as “nikujaga” for its Japanese dish and cabbage roll with tomato rice for its international dish. A third dish will also be introduced alongside Iijima’s meals, as the airline partners up with fast food chain Yoshinoya in what would be their fourth collaboration. The dish, a delicious beef sukiyaki cooked with fully aged meat and fine seasoning, is adapted from the restaurant’s popular Beef Sukiyaki Banezen menu. In addition to the meals, JAL is also introducing a new lineup of sake brands for its premium passengers, including Isojiman and Dassai for first class passengers and seasonal brands such as Toyobijin and Born for business class passengers. Through November 30, the new meals will be available in most of JAL’s international routes for flights leaving from Japan, while the new sake menu will be offered on all routes.
