From December 15, 2017, Qantas will start serving a six times-weekly service between Melbourne and Los Angeles. Carrying 236 passengers across three classes, the inaugural flight will mark the airline’s first long-haul route on board the 787-9 Dreamliner. This may come as a surprise to some people, given that the airline made it seem like the Perth – London route would hold that title. The new Melbourne – Los Angeles service will replace the current twice-weekly 747 flights between the two cities, as well as complementing the existing A380 service.
Designed to provide maximum levels of comfort, the Dreamliner will boast larger windows, better air quality, and greater storage space. Each Business Suite will also offer a fully flat bed and direct aisle access. Come 2017, the airline will unveil its Premium Economy cabin, which promises to “set new standards for the industry.” Tickets will be on sale starting from December 25, 2016.
What do you think of Qantas’ new Melbourne – Los Angeles service? Would you choose it over other airlines?
