Swiss International Air Lines is set to be the first allergy-conscious airline with a host of in-flight products launching next month. SWISS has partnered with the European Center for Allergy Research Foundation (ECARF) to offer products for passengers that suffer from allergies. New products include a line of lactose- and gluten-free food and beverage alternatives as well as changes to the cabin interior. Passengers can now order special meals tailored to their needs on all long-haul flights and in business class within Europe up to 24 hours before departure. In first and business class, passengers will be offered pillows with non-aggravating materials versus traditional down-filled versions. The airline will no longer use decorative flowers and air fresheners in the cabin, and also introduce soaps that are gentle on skin in bathrooms. SWISS is the first airline in the world to meet the ECARF criteria for an allergy-conscious airline.
