Watch: Air New Zealand’s Magical Video Starring Katie Holmes

Producing safety videos has become an art form. In many ways, they’ve also become a marketing tool for airlines. Consider Philippine Airlines’ video that was released last February that highlights the country’s top destinations—it’s a visually engaging manner of encouraging passengers to buckle up for their own safety.

Taking a leaf out of the same book is Air New Zealand, which has just launched its own pre-departure video titled A Fantastical Journey. Starring actors Cuba Gooding Jr. and Katie Holmes, the Alice in Wonderland-inspired reel showcases stunning locales such as the Moeraki Boulders, the Conway River in Wellington, Mt. Taranaki, Waitomo Caves, Rotorua, and Cathedral Cove in the Coromandel.

Creative agency True and production company Assembly conceptualized and produced the video, which has attracted more than 28,000 views on Youtube so far.

Says Holmes in a statement, “I was really excited to be a part of this project—the safety video is creative, magical, and funny. The scenery is also beautiful and makes me want to get down to New Zealand!”

Says the company’s general manager of global brand and content marketing Jodi Williams, “Our latest safety video takes viewers on a journey taking in New Zealand’s stunning beauty, incredible culture, friendly people and amazing flora and fauna, while also sharing the airline’s key safety messages.”
