4 Exciting Highlights at World Gourmet Summit 2019

Through the lens of sustainability, Asia’s premier haute cuisine festival brings to life specially crafted dinners, masterchef experiences, and a highly anticipated forum.

Gourmands and foodies alike, mark your calendar for World Gourmet Summit 2019 (WGS 2019). Running from now until 12 May in Singapore, the festival celebrates fine cuisines, excellent wines, and memorable dining experiences.

Guests can expect to meet a diversified line up of culinary stars, from young, up-and-coming chefs, to renowned culinary influencers from across Asia, Eastern and Central Europe, as well as North and South America, each presenting the best of the world’s exciting cuisines.

Here are four exciting highlights to check out:

1. World Gourmet Awards

Widely regarded as one of the most respected accolades in Singapore and around the region, the World Gourmet Awards continue to recognise hardworking F&B and hospitality professionals, as well as establishments, in Singapore and around the region; all who have played a pivotal role in promoting exemplary service, innovations, and the evolution of the F&B and hospitality scene in Asia.

Ethical and responsible sourcing is one of the key topics at this year’s WGS Sustainability Forum.

2. Sustainability Forum

Guided by the overarching theme of sustainability, WGS 2019 will accentuate on the movement towards food-waste management and plastic-free environment. The Sustainability Forum brings together a panel of distinguished speakers and industry experts from the culinary world to discuss the various topics concerning issues on sustainability; from ethical and responsible sourcing to the role each industry stakeholder plays in the mission to introduce and implement effective measures in a bid to implement sustainable practices industry-wide.

The Gastro-Market Place is open to the public and is priced at S$10 per entry.

3. UNGA: Gastro-Market Place

Happening on April 23, 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Chijmes Lawn, the Gastro-Market Place offers a platform for farmers and growers to showcase their ingredients and harvests, as well as to educate diners on the many aspects within the food industry. In its third installment, the market place features delicious grubs and refreshing tipples, as well as home-grown brands showcasing various culinary products and ingredients. Gastro-Market Place is open to the public and is priced at S$10 per entry.

4. WGS Gastro-Brunch

On April 28, tuck into a sumptuous feast at the WGS Gastro-Brunch. Held at Tamarind Hill, the brunch lets diners relax and savor a wide selection of gourmet brunch offerings within a historic colonial bungalow perched atop the forested Labrador Nature Reserve.
