Mobile technology developments have no doubt become the solver of many classic travel problems. Lost on your way to the hotel? Google Maps to the rescue. Need dinner ideas in a new town? Plenty of apps are at your disposal for recommendations. Taking travel convenience to next level is the Space Case 1, a Kickstarter-funded smart luggage designed with a range of brilliant features to suit the needs of tech-savvy travelers.
Equipped with two internal and external USB ports, the suitcase turns into a strong portable charger with a 12,000 mAh power supply, while a built-in Bluetooth speaker allows travelers to play music and make hands-free calls. The luggage comes with a separate mobile phone application called Planet Traveler (available for iPhone and Android devices), which helps make packing easier thanks to a feature that displays the suitcase’s weight as measured by the sensors installed on its wheels. For added security, the app can also double as a luggage tracker, notifying its owner when it lands on the baggage carousel, or, thanks to its proximity sensor, when it leaves the owner’s area. A fingerprint-scan feature also adds to its security and takes away the hassle of combination locks.
The Space Case 1 is available in carry-on and checked-in luggage sizes, priced at US$ 329 and US$669 respectively.
