Currently, the Queen Mary 2 luxury ocean liner from Cunard is making its way across the Atlantic Ocean, having just had a very elaborate birthday party celebrating a decade on the water. Before departing from Southampton on May 9, its two queen sisters—Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria—aligned to sign the Queen Mary 2 happy birthday in ship whistles, followed by The Duke of Edinburgh boarding the ship for a special reception, indulging the ship with a royal treatment before it departed for New York Harbor, to which it will arrive on May 16.
Come June, the ship will receive special guests of a different kingdom, as Hollywood royalty actress Tilda Swinton, actor Jason Schwartzman, writer and producer Roman Coppola, and director Wes Anderson board the ship for its transatlantic journey beginning the 13th of the month, also in honor of the decade-old birthday. During the seven days of crossing, guests will be able to attend special screenings of Anderson’s films as well as a Q&A session with the quartet of stars in the ship’s Royal Court Theatre. It will mark the beloved indie director’s first voyage aboard the iconic Queen, and it will also be a celebration of his most recent film, The Grand Budapest Hotel, which will be discussed in the Q&A and is his highest-grossing film to date. This, along with countless amenities and activities aboard the ship (including the world’s only floating planetarium) ensures guests aboard will experience nothing less than a trip fit for a queen.
