Chef Sitti Suteerasan has elevated the beloved street-food dish with the addition of succulent Canadian lobster and osetra caviar.
No stranger to unusual culinary pairings, Thai fusion restaurant Som Tam & Chardonnay at the Akyra Thonglor Bangkok Hotel is now offering what it calls “the world’s most luxurious papaya salad” as part of a new menu.
Chef Sitti Suteerasan has elevated the beloved street-food dish with the addition of succulent Canadian lobster and osetra caviar, and diners have the option of taking that indulgence to the next level by ordering a bottle of Louis Roederer Champagne or chardonnay to cut through the spiciness of the som tam.
Other menu highlights? Flash-seared beef carpaccio dressed with lemongrass and dried chili, tuna tartare seasoned in Thai herbs and a fish-sauce dressing, and Atlantic salmon that gets the Asian treatment by way of lotus root and a local riff on Italian gremolata.
