Guests at the seaside five-star resort in Sri Lanka can now enjoy world-class foot, hand, and nail treatments.
Those dreaming of an Indian Ocean getaway will be glad to know that Sri Lanka reopened its borders just last month, and foreign visitors are welcome to stay at Anantara Kalutara Resort on the southwest coast of the island, an hour’s drive from Bandaranaike International Airport. It’s not just Geoffrey Bawa–inspired architecture, excellent food, and a scenic beachfront location that guests can look forward to here — there’s also a brand-new wellness offering ideal for weary travelers.
The latest addition to the Anantara Kalutara is Pedi:Mani:Cure Studio by Bastien Gonzalez, whose namesake podiatrist is known as a “foot virtuoso” for his next-level manicures and pedicures, which are highly sought-after by jet-setting Hollywood celebrities. Gonzalez has developed a series of revolutionary treatments that combine medical know-how with pampering touches (using his own product line) to deliver personalized foot, hand, and nail care. His signature offerings are only available at select luxury hotels around the world, and they include the 75-minute Bastien Duo, a synchronized four-hand experience that focuses on the nails, hands, feet, legs, and arms.
Overseen by certified French chiropodist Bertrand Li, who was trained by Bastien himself, the newly launched studio is Gonzalez’s first outpost in Sri Lanka. Li has been appointed the manager of both the studio and Anantara Spa Kalutara, where the facility is located, and brings plenty of international experience to the job: he previously worked at spas in Mauritius, Vietnam, and Dubai. The new Pedi:Mani:Cure Studio by Bastien Gonzalez complements the existing lineup of Ayurvedic-inspired treatments at Anantara Spa; these harness the natural benefits of local ingredients such as king coconut and Ceylon green tea.
