Families checking in to Anantara Layan Phuket Resort can embark on a mini-adventure without even leaving the grounds, thanks to the debut of a 400-meter-long zip line through the jungle. Suspended 15 meters above the ground and promising elevated views of Layan Beach, the zip lining course gives thrill-seekers the chance to soar through the air for an adrenaline rush.
It’s the latest addition to the resort’s Layan Active Zone, created for guests of all ages and fitness levels. Facilities here include two floodlit tennis courts, an outdoor gym, a Surf Skate Field, 10.5-meter-high outdoor climbing wall, Muay Thai boxing ring, lakeside pool, and Teen Zone. For a stress-busting full-body workout, Muay Thai sessions are hard to beat. Each boxing student at Anantara Layan is kitted out with gloves and guided by seasoned instructors who will teach them how to master a range of moves using their fists, elbows, knees, and shins. Meanwhile, the nearby climbing wall tempts first-timers with several practice routes for beginners and children as young as eight years old. There’s also an outdoor gym equipped with weights and aerobic and anaerobic machines, so holidaymakers can stay in shape while soaking up views of the surrounding tropical scenery.
More sedate pursuits await at the Teen Zone, which features foosball tables, computers, and retro arcade games. Parents traveling with younger children in tow will find the lakeside pool and crafts corner a safe space to relax and play. Cocoon, the on-site health café, serves up a selection of pre-and post-game refreshments and snacks, including vegan and vegetarian as well as gluten- and dairy-free options. Immunity-boosting shakes made with nutritional ingredients like spinach, kale, and ginger are also on the menu.
