Asia’s Same-Day Booking Craze

Same-day hotel booking goes against conventional travel wisdom, but more and more consumers are learning that last-minute booking can save consumers loads of cash. Hotel Tonight, an American venture, pioneered the concept of same-day booking in 2010 with their mobile app spawning competitors around the world.

Now, Asian hotels and travel destinations are catching onto the craze with market movers like CheckInTonight.asia that debuted in August 2012. CheckInTonight.asia prides itself on hand-selecting the stays featured on its website with up to 70% off standard rates.

Hotel Quickly, a Hong Kong-based startup, launched in March of this year to much fanfare. The venture capital team was able to secure partners in six countries across South East Asia and has raised $500,000 in seed funding so far. Book a room last night with Hotel Quickly in Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Macau, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Most recent has been the launch of Jin Jiang Hotels mobile application, the first booking application for same-day booking with an associated hotel group. Jin Jiang Hotels is the biggest hotel group in China and launched with the help of Mobile Travel Technologies Limited in early May. Their app is available on the iTunes store.

Now last-minute trekkers and weary business travelers alike can join in the 11th hour booking frenzy throughout Asia.
