Thanks to a new collaboration with AXA General Insurance, travelers flying Hong Kong’s flag carrier from now until February 28, 2021 can rest assured that they will receive automatic coverage for medical expenses related to a Covid-19 diagnosis while abroad. No further registration or paperwork is necessary to be eligible for the complimentary insurance provided by AXA.
Coverage includes Covid-19 PCR tests and hospitalization if necessary, with total medical expenses of up to US$200,000. For those needing to quarantine due to unforeseen circumstances, Cathay Pacific is also offering an allowance of US$100 per day per passenger for up to 14 days. Evacuation and repatriation of affected passengers, alongside their travel companions and any children in the same group, will be arranged for free to ensure they get home safe and sound. Cathay passengers are covered by this insurance policy for a period of 30 days starting from their departure date, or until the time they return to their home country, depending on which one comes earlier.
A 24/7 emergency hotline has just been set up; affected customers can call AXA for assistance on +852 2863 5785 or by sending a WhatsApp message to +852 2863 5784.
