After an extensive renovation, Cathay Pacific reopened the Pier First Class Lounge in the northwest concourse of Hong Kong International Airport on June 19. Designed by the London-based design firm Studiolise, the 2,061-square-meter, 231-pax lounge is warm, clean, and designed with an emphasis on natural materials—onyx, limestone, bronze, and plants—in keeping with the look of the brand’s other newly opened lounges in Haneda, Manila, and Bangkok Suvarnabhumi. But the Pier is the most luxe of the batch yet: travelers are greeted with complimentary foot massages, neck and shoulder massages are available upon request, and there are eight private Day Suites with daybeds and adjustable lighting as well 14 limestone-and-timber showers. The rest of the lounge is sectioned into the Dining Room with an à la carte menu, the grab-and-go food Pantry, the full-service Bar, the Library lounge, and the Bureau equipped with six iMacs. The lounge is open to Cathay First Class passengers, Diamond Marco Polo Club members, and Emerald Oneworld Members.

As part of the Pier’s opening, Cathay also launched its new signature scent, which is a blend of lavender, bamboo, jasmine, and green tea. Not much has been released about the fragrance—it is yet unnamed—except that the Pier is the first lounge to feature its scent, and it will soon be assimilated into Cathay’s other lounges as well.
