French resort company Club Med has teamed up with Google to bring Google Street View to its Club Med Finolhu Villas in the Maldives, the company’s luxurious adult-only resort which opened earlier this year. Located on the island of Gasfinolhu, the resort is the first in the Maldives to offer the technology, allowing prospective visitors to get a feel of the five-hectare property without stepping away from their computer screen—the same way Google Street View has allowed its users to explore some of the world’s iconic properties, landmarks and natural wonders from great distances. From its 52 eco-friendly villas and fitness center to its restaurant, bar, and pool area, anyone can now get a 360-degree look of the solar-powered resort and its facilities prior to making their reservations.
“We’ve chosen to bring Google Street View to the Maldives to showcase this amazing eco-friendly resort and let people experience just how beautiful the island is before even stepping foot on it,” said Estelle Giraudeau of Club Med UK. “We hope this will encourage people to not only choose to visit the Maldives but to choose an option that ensures the local ecology and economy are supported and protected. We also toured the island by drone earlier in the year adding this to the Street View experience lets people navigate at their own pace to see the beauty of the island.”
