With items such as a compostable bamboo toothbrush and a paper pen, presented in a waterproof and reusable kraft paper bag, Virgin Atlantic says its latest in-flight amenity kits are the world’s most sustainable.
Launching on the airline’s first Airbus A350 flights before being rolled out across its network over the next few months, these kits come in two versions, one for Upper Class and another for Premium economy.
The airline says: “Ideally, we want to get to a point where we can personalize amenity kits and offer our customers only the items that they need.”
This drive towards sustainability has resulted in amenity kits that offer sustainable products without compromising on quality. Here’s what passengers can find it their respective kits:
Upper Class kit: Lip balm, hand and face moisturizer from REN, a bamboo toothbrush and miniature tube of the toothbrush, destination-themed socks, an eye mask, earplugs, a pen.
Premium economy kit: Everything in the Upper Class kit, except for the REN beauty products and socks.
According to Virgin Atlantic, these changes will help save 945 tonnes of plastic per year, which is equivalent to the weight of more than six A350 aircraft.
Amenity kits aside, the British airline has also unveiled new loungewear for its Upper Class passengers, which are made from soft cotton-blend jersey fabric. Available in three sizes, the loungewear is offered on night flights and can be requested during daytime services as well.
