Tapping into the glitz and glamour of fashion’s most important week of the year, Cunard cruise line will be putting together a Transatlantic Fashion Week next year, bringing the runway to the sea in a seven-night journey from Southampton, England, to New York. The cruise will be operating its Queen Mary 2 for the special occasion, departing on September 1 and arriving in the Big Apple on September 8—just in time for the first day of the New York Fashion Week.
A number of high-profile individuals from the industry will be hosting the trip and are set to share their insights throughout the journey, including Fern Mallis, founder of the New York Fashion Week, and British fashion historian Colin McDowell. The event will also see a presentation of designer Zandra Rhodes’s collection, modeled by faces from Storm modelling agency, which has produced some of fashion’s most prominent names, such as Kate Moss, Karolína Kurková, and Cara Delevingne.
“I’m extremely excited t be joining Cunard on board Queen Mary 2 for the very first Transatlantic Fashion Week, 2016,” Rhodes said. “For me, it offers the opportunity to share my knowledge and wonderful experiences throughout my career in fashion, and give guests a taste of what my collection has to offer.”
