Passengers on select routes from Dubai will get to enjoy roasted turkey and other festive treats.
Until December 31, travelers flying Emirates to reunite with loved ones will find plenty of holiday spirit at its home base and in the air. Those hankering after pre-departure bites at the Emirates lounge in Dubai International Airport can now sample a range of traditional Christmas dishes including roasted turkey and desserts such as stollen.
Despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the airline’s festive inflight menu has made a comeback. This will be offered to customers traveling from Dubai to select destinations in Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Europe, the United Kingdom, South Africa, Brazil, and the United States.
Economy-class passengers on those routes will be served roasted turkey with mashed potatoes, green peas, baby carrots, and cranberry jus lié, as well as chocolate mousse with a mandarin orange compote for a sweet finish. Those booked into first and business class can tuck into roasted turkey breast and apricot stuffing alongside roast potatoes with creamy brussels sprouts and turkey bacon, also with cranberry jus lié. Meanwhile, dessert comes in the form of Santa-inspired chocolate cranberry cake or a chocolate gingerbread cake. Passengers in all cabin classes will be able to pre-order a kid-friendly turkey dinner over the festive period.
With Christmas markets shut or heavily restricted this year by the Covid-19 pandemic, Emirates is adding a special touch to the inflight experience. From December 23–25, first- and business-class flyers will get to sip on mulled wine served with garnishes such as cinnamon sticks, redcurrants, and orange slices. Another festive option is customizable hot chocolate—premium customers are welcome to add marshmallows, white and dark chocolate, plus strawberries and raspberries to their drink. This will be paired with freshly baked treats including cranberry, pistachio, and white chocolate cookies; gingerbread houses; and spiced gingerbread snowflake cookies.
On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, Emirates’ cabin crew will also be giving away holiday cupcakes in first class, gingerbread Christmas tree cookies with marzipan canes in J-class, and chocolate truffles in economy. Passengers can settle back in their seats to watch holiday specials on ice, Emirates’ inflight entertainment system. Expect to see plenty of cult classics such as Home Alone and A Christmas Miracle, plus TV specials like the Christmas episodes from the Big Bang Theory and Friends.
