Those traveling on Emirates’ cheapest economy fare types might want to take note of this—the airline will be cutting your checked luggage allowance.
Starting February 4, travelers on Special fares will see their baggage allowance drop from 20kg to 15kg. Meanwhile, the allowance for Saver fares will decrease from 30kg to 25kg.
For now, the allowances for Economy Flex and Flex Plus will remain unchanged at 30kg and 35kg respectively. Business-class passengers will continue to enjoy 40kg of baggage, while first-class customers will continue to have 50kg baggage allowance.
Based on the piece concept, the allowance for Economy Special and Saver customers will be reduced from two pieces each weighing up to 23kg, to just one piece. On the other hand, Economy Flex and Flex Plus passengers will continue to get two pieces up to 23kg, while business and first-class customers get two pieces up to 32kg.
These new allowances are applicable to all routes, aside from those to and from the Americas, as well as those departing from Africa.
