Travelers passing through Abu Dhabi have even more reason to leave the airport and spend more time on the ground, thanks to Etihad’s resumption of its stopover specials. Travelers can now benefit from a 40 percent discount on stays at a range of participating five-star hotels, or alternatively enjoy a one or two-nights complimentary stay in a three or four-star property. The third new option is Transit Connect, where guests on eligible routes can book a complimentary room at a hotel near Abu Dhabi International Airport if their flight connection time is between 10 and 24 hours.

In a statement, Martin Drew, Etihad Airways’ Senior Vice President for Global Sales, said bringing back the Etihad Stopover was natural as it had always been popular, especially among those looking to break up their ultra-long-haul trips. “Our new offers enhance that proposition even further, allowing guests to discover our beautiful emirate with all of its diverse attractions. There’s something for everyone, from Louvre Abu Dhabi to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, or Yas Island, home of the Formula 1 track, Warner Brothers amusement park and CLYMB, the region’s tallest indoor climbing wall.”

Premium Hotels where travelers can enjoy a 40 percent discount on room rates include Anantara Eastern Mangroves, InterContinental Abu Dhabi, Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi, The St. Regis Abu Dhabi, and Fairmont Bab al Bahr. Meanwhile, eight three- and four-star hotels are participating in the program rewarding Etihad customers with free stays. Among the options are two Ramada properties, two hotels managed by Wyndham, and another two from Premier Inn.
