It looks like Etihad is upping its investment in Australia-bound services. Following the recent addition of an A380 to its Abu Dhabi–Sydney route, the carrier just launched daily direct flights between Abu Dhabi and Brisbane on June 1. Prior, daily services between the two cities had a stopover in Singapore and were operated by the two-class Airbus A330-200, but the direct flights are serviced by the new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, featuring eight of the airline’s luxurious First Suites, which come with personal mini-bars and the option of double beds. Twenty-eight Business Studios with lie-flat beds and 199 economy seats compose the rest of the seating.
The flight leaves from Brisbane at 9:35 p.m. and arrives in Abu Dhabi at 6:00 a.m. the following morning; return flights depart Abu Dhabi at 10:00 p.m. and arrive in Brisbane at 5:50 p.m. the following evening. For Australia-bound passengers, Etihad has worked with its partner airline, Virgin Atlantic, to seamlessly connect to 13 other destinations in Australia, letting onward travels with Virgin be booked with single tickets, through-checked baggage, and convenient connection times.
