The Nordic airline plans to serve 77 destinations around the world as travel continues its rebound in the months ahead.
Finland’s flag carrier has updated its offering for winter 2022–2023 in line with the expectation that Russian airspace will be closed well into the early months of next year. From its Helsinki hub, the airline will fly to 10 destinations in Asia, 62 in Europe, and five in the United States during the season. Finnair is also running direct flights to the U.S. and Thailand from Stockholm Arlanda. “We are happy to see travel recovering at a rapid pace, and our winter network caters to the needs of both corporate and leisure travelers,” said Ole Orvér, its Chief Commercial Officer, in a statement.
In Asia, Finnair will continue to serve Delhi, Singapore, Seoul, and Tokyo Narita with daily flights. Finnair plans to fly to Mumbai, its newest destination, four times a week; to Hong Kong on a daily basis; and to Shanghai once a week. Europe-based holidaymakers bound for Thailand can enjoy up to 14 weekly frequencies to Bangkok and three weekly frequencies to Phuket, on top of twice-weekly flights to Krabi. Finnair will also fly to Bangkok and Phuket from Stockholm Arlanda with two weekly frequencies to each destination. Due to the closure of Russian airspace, the airline is extending the suspension of flights to Tokyo Haneda, Nagoya, Osaka, and Sapporo for the winter season.
Finnair’s network in Europe comprises approximately 60 routes, including double daily services to most European capitals. Travelers flying into Helsinki can look forward to smooth domestic connections to the winter destinations Ivalo, Kittilä, and Rovaniemi in Finnish Lapland, where must-dos include skiing, husky rides, and viewing the Northern Lights.
As for its U.S. offering, the airline plans to operate daily flights to New York JFK from Helsinki, as well as three weekly flights to Los Angeles and Miami, and four weekly flights to Dallas-Fort Worth and Chicago O’Hare. In addition, three weekly nonstop flights will be flown to New York JFK, Los Angeles, and Miami from Stockholm Arlanda. Finnair’s new premium economy travel class and the revamped long-haul cabins will be available on all departures to New York from both Helsinki and Arlanda.
