Of the inhabited Hawaiian islands, Lanai is the Sleeping Beauty of the bunch—a restful stunner almost entirely owned and protected by tech billionaire Larry Ellison. An 11-room hotel aside, the island’s only accommodation has been two Four Seasons properties owned by Ellison, who last year shuttered them both for multimillion-dollar renovations. This March sees the reopening of the Four Seasons Resort Lanai at Hulopo’e Bay, with 217 wood-accented rooms, a Nobu restaurant, two pools, and a spa, all set on red-lava cliffs above waters filled with spinner dolphins and humpback whales. —Gabrielle Lipton
