Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill Branches Out to Malaysia

Open from breakfast to dinner, the newest fine-dining destination in Sunway City offers succulent steaks, seafood platters, and more.

Foodies bound for Kuala Lumpur in the near future should make the effort to swing by Sunway Resort, where Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill is officially opening its doors this weekend (June 18). As the celebrity chef’s inaugural restaurant in Malaysia — and the first Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill outside the United Kingdom — this much-anticipated venue is poised to make a splash on the local culinary scene. Seating up to 150 guests at a time, the restaurant comprises a grand dining room with semi-private seating booths, a cocktail bar and lounge with floor-to-ceiling windows, as well as a trio of private dining rooms named after several of London’s most stylish neighborhoods.

The interior design combines robust furniture in a red and green color scheme, polished walnut flooring, brass finishes, and a ceiling adorned with 24 karat gold leaf. Lining the walls of the main dining room are monochrome portraits of British style icons by celebrated photographers Terry O’Neill and Arthur Steel, featuring The Rolling Stones frontman Sir Mick Jagger, supermodels Jean Shrimpton and Twiggy, and the late and great Sir Sean Connery — the original 007.

Meanwhile, the menu nods to London’s acclaimed Savoy Grill, and a kitchen team trained by Gordon Ramsay himself plates up dishes prepared with top-notch ingredients (think prime cuts of meat that have been dry-aged in-house). Diners will get to sample popular dishes such as the chef’s signature Beef Wellington served tableside; other must-tries include spiced beef tartare with egg yolk confit, twice-baked cheese soufflé with Mornay sauce, and Dover sole in a Grenobloise style.

Patrons who head to the bar can sip on cocktails with Malaysian-inspired flavors, classic favorites, and a host of premium wines and spirits. Right next door, a dedicated wine cellar showcases an extensive global wine list; its private room provides an intimate setting for tastings and small-scale social events. Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill at Sunway Resort joins the brand’s three existing London locations in Mayfair, Chelsea, and Park Walk.
