Papua New Guinea’s capital city, Port Moresby, is about to enjoy what, for it, is a rare occasion — the launching of a newly built major hotel. On December 1, the Grand Papua Hotel will open in the city’s center and highest point.
By Papua New Guinea standards, the hotel is cutting edge. Guests will check in using an iPad. The building is designed to maximize energy efficiency. Rooms feature 32-inch LCD cable TVs and wi-fi connections.
Lest things get too techie and impersonal, though, guests will be able to easily interact with the city and remember where they are. The hotel is within a stroll of the popular Ela Beach, and a souvenir-rich crafts market is nearby. The interiors of the hotel feature a mix of modern and indigenous design elements. And from their rooms, guests can enjoy views of the sea.
The property is a member of the Summit Hotels & Resorts network, which falls under the Preferred Hotel Group umbrella.
