Fans, time to dust off your costumes! The tenth edition of the Singapore Toy, Game and Comic Convention (STGCC) will kick off at Marina Bay Sands on September 9 and 10. STGCC, as it’s more popularly known, is attended not just by local fans but it attracts visitors from Brunei, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines as well.
This year’s stellar line up of the STGCC’s guests is a fan’s dream come true. The visual effects supervisor of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Nigel Summer will give a behind-the-scenes look on how the blockbuster film was made. There’s also a Star Wars zone where replicas and collectibles can be found.
Meanwhile, Marvel comics writer Adi Granov, American artists Arthur Adams, and compatriot David Mack will talk about the evolution and future prospects of the comics industry.
Get your selfies taken (if they want to) with leading cosplayers Iori Moe, Leon Chiro, and Shimo. You can also go gaga over performances by pop groups Ayame, Color Pointe, Akai Ryusei, and Hiiragi Rio.
Japanese illustrator Kanzaki Hiro (Orelmo, Eromanga Sensei) will discuss the inspiration behind his creations. Toy designers such as DeAnne George, Hisacy, Kaori Hinata, and Mark Nagata will also be there to say hello to fans.
Be sure to check out the exhibitors such as Beast Kingdom, Simply Toys, XM Studios, Aniplus Asia, Art of Rachta Lin, Artizt Label, and Band of Doodlers.
Organizers of the STGCC have been quick to point out that attendees are not guaranteed that they will have their autographs taken. Photo ops are possible only if the artist or celebrity agrees to it.
Tickets for the STGCC start from US$6.70 for one day passes. Meanwhile VIP passes are worth US$63.
