Calling all Hong Kong gourmands—are you staying in but craving a gourmet meal with your loved ones? Restaurateur Yenn Wong’s Jia Group has recently rolled out a meal box delivery service as part of Jia Everywhere, a new suite of catering options that will whisk chef-cooked dishes straight from the kitchens of selected dining venues right to your doorstep. Participating outlets range from the one-Michelin-starred Cantonese restaurant Duddell’s to Chachawan, specializing in the cuisine of Thailand’s Isan region, and Italian eatery 208 Duecento Otto.
The latter’s meal box menu offers handmade pastas and pizzas with a side of rocket salad. Highlights are the pappardelle wagyu bolognese, featuring generous shavings of parmesan cheese aged for 24 months, and a Diavola pizza topped with spicy salami, chili, and basil.
Meanwhile, Duddell’s currently has five set meal options: choices include braised e-fu noodles and a soup of the day, as well as crispy pork fried rice paired with a dim sum platter comprising siumai, a steamed scallop and asparagus dumpling, a char siu–filled pineapple bun, and one fried sticky-rice dumpling (ham sui gok) with black truffle.
If it’s Shanghainese flavors you’re after, the food at Old Bailey will hit the spot. Vegetarians will want to try the organic mapo tofu and steamed rice with chopped greens, while meat-eaters can order the braised dongpo pork and shimeji mushroom with rice. All the takeout sets at Old Bailey also feature a daily-changing cold appetizer.
The downside is that same-day deliveries are not available, and Meal Box orders must contain at least 10 boxes per restaurant, with a minimum spend of HK$800. These will need to be pre-paid and placed 12 hours in advance.
Families and friends living together may want to opt for JIA Everywhere’s group catering menus instead, as these offer larger set meals designed for sharing between four or more people. Take note that orders must be made 48 hours in advance.
