Billed as “an art project disguised as a boutique hotel,” the Urban Spaces Art Hotel Ibiza always smells like fresh paint and hopes it won’t be just like how you remembered it. The 15-room hotel has commissioned a rotating group of international street artists to continually update every wall of the property giving guests the unique experience of being surrounded by original works. Owner Ira Francis has collaborated with an impressive list of edgy artists such as Lauren Baker, who has had her work shown at the Tate Modern and the London Design Festival, and INKIE, who was recently named to the Arts and Culture Power List of Bristol.
But just because there is a huge emphasis on art doesn’t mean that the customer service suffers. The hotel likes to boast that it puts extra emphasis on services because it lacks a pool, gym, and spa. Many of the services available were designed to help guests have a good time—it is Ibiza after all. There is 24-hour room service available and for the morning after, the hotel can deliver items specifically for hangover recovery including comfort or junk food and medicines. Guests can also request someone help them pack their bags or reschedule travel. Before going out, Urban Spaces even has a quirky service for partygoers: they can arrange costume rentals for those going attending themed nights.
Although the hotel doesn’t have room for a proper gym and spa, it offers to set up spa sessions for guests as well as rooftop pilate and yoga classes. Location wise, the Urban Spaces Art Hotel is just a few minutes walk away from the Dalt Vila, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the wonderfully preserved Necropolis Punica. Both are great destinations for people looking for things not so new.
