With the ongoing COVID-19 situation, Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) has decided to extend membership statuses within its loyalty program. Members will have their status extended until January 2022, which “allows members to enjoy all the benefits of the status they earned during 2019.”

Spire Elite members will be able to choose from their annual choice benefit of either 25,000 bonus points or the gifting of Platinum Elite status for an extra year.

Meanwhile, the expiration of points for Club members has been paused until December 31, 2020, and there is a complimentary three-month membership extension to members of the InterContinental Ambassador program; these members will also receive a three-month extension on unredeemed Weekend Night Certificates.

According to IHG, these extensions will automatically be applied to member accounts “in the coming weeks.”
