This rebranded landmark property on the Lion City’s famed shopping strip now sports a whole new look.
Following a major upgrade to the tune of about S$90 million (roughly US$66.5 million), the former Mandarin Orchard Singapore has been relaunched as Hilton’s largest hotel in the Asia-Pacific region. Built atop the four-story Mandarin Gallery shopping mall on Orchard Road, Hilton Singapore Orchard contains 1,080 guest rooms and suites across two wings; the main tower ranked as the city-state’s tallest building when the property first opened as The Mandarin Singapore in 1971.
Since the rebranding plans were made public in late March 2020, property group OUE has embarked on an extensive renovation program, updating the rooms and meeting facilities, while adding several new dining outlets plus an executive lounge. Hilton Singapore’s contemporary design features a muted color palette with botanical touches in the artwork and design details. Energy-efficient technology is present in every room and suite, with lights and air conditioning activated by motion sensors. Guests on the go will benefit from digital key access and smartphone-connected services.
The new-look property has retained the two-Michelin-starred Shisen Hanten by Chen Kentaro as well as five-decade-old institution Chatterbox, beloved by locals and visiting celebrities alike for its Singaporean hawker fare (the boneless Hainanese chicken rice is a perennial favorite). Chatterbox has been given a facelift and will now reopen on March 14. New additions to the culinary lineup include Italian venue Osteria Mozza by acclaimed American chef Nancy Silverton; all-day dining restaurant Estate; and Ginger.Lily, a bar and lounge where guests can enjoy barista-made brews, afternoon tea with a local twist, craft cocktails, and artisanal pastries.
Elsewhere on site, the 16 renovated event spaces cover 2,400 square meters of event facilities for meetings, conferences, and gatherings of all sizes. The Hilton’s two pillarless ballrooms come fitted with LED walls: the Grand Ballroom accommodates up to 900 guests, while the multi-tiered amphitheater-style Imperial Ballroom, which affords sweeping city views from its 35th-floor perch, has room for 220 people.
Valid until June 30, 2022, the Opening Stay offer at Hilton Singapore Orchard includes breakfast for two, 25 percent off food and drinks at Estate and Ginger.Lily, early check in and late checkout, and 1,000 additional Hilton Honors points per night. Through a similar dining promotion, Hilton Honors members can enjoy discounts of up to 25 percent at Estate and Ginger.Lily and earn 500 bonus points for the same period.
