Feb. 22: Folks from all over Tibet don their Sunday best and make a pilgrimage to Jokhang Temple in Lhasa for Losar, the Tibetan New Year. Here, incense offerings are made at the feet of a statue depicting Buddha as a 12-year-old. What follows is a weeklong celebration involving special foods, like noodles made from different ingredients, dumpling soup called gothuk, and changkol beer.
