Join the people of Lyon as they brighten up the French winter with their Festival of Lights on December 8-11. Said to have begun over 150 years ago when the townsfolk lit candles in their windows to celebrate the unveiling of a new Virgin Mary statue, the traditional observance has more recently evolved to include hundreds of buildings set aglow with light installations, including some brilliantly realized animated projections.
