Considering a Maldivian holiday with the kids? The newest family-friendly hideout in the Indian Ocean archipelago debuted just this month. Situated in the North Male Atoll, and a mere 20-minute speedboat ride from Velana International Airport, Hilton Maldives Amingiri comprises 109 beach and overwater villas, each one offering a private pool and views of the surrounding turquoise lagoon. All accommodations have been designed in a contemporary style with floor-to-ceiling windows, Maldivian accents, and a color palette drawn from the sea and sky. The overwater pool villas are fitted with a poolside hammock and stairs leading directly to the lagoon, while beach villas feature a deck swing and a gazebo. No matter which one they book, guests will find spacious bathrooms with ocean-facing bathtubs, as well as indoor and outdoor rain showers.
Larger groups of travelers seeking total privacy can look to the six-bedroom Amingiri Residence, billed as the only one of its kind in the Maldives. Set apart from the rest of the property on a landscaped cove, the residence has a dedicated arrival pier and sundeck with 360-degree views. The Amingiri Residence will begin welcoming guests in November.

Another first for the country is the cocktail lab at poolside drinking spot Aura, where in-house mixologists brew bitters and kombucha for creative eco-friendly tipples. The other bars and restaurants at Hilton Maldives Amingiri are just as exciting. Origin focuses on sustainably sourced seafood, aging techniques, and a food-upcycling approach; breezy all-day restaurant Habitat plates up Italian dishes and a selection of curries from the Maldives, Sri Lanka, India, and Thailand. At the rustic Beach Shack, patrons can plant their feet in the sand as they enjoy dinners of flame-grilled meats and seafood. Sip Tea Lounge celebrates tea cultures from all over the world with an extensive collection that includes rare flavors and perennial favorites, while the adults-only overwater bar Eden specializes in champagne and gin.
Younger travelers are well catered for too. Daily activities such as crafts sessions and beach games beckon at Krakengiri Kids’ Club, which features an outdoor children’s play pool and mini splash park. Accessed via a hidden entrance, rooftop bar Re:Fuel has been designed exclusively for teenage guests as a quiet retreat where they can sip on smoothies and shakes, and tuck into burgers, pizzas, and smaller bites come mealtime.

Meanwhile, the extensive menu of treatments at Amingiri Spa includes various massages and body wraps, a 16-point acupressure facial massage, and hammam rituals. There’s also Young Zen by Amingiri Spa, a tailor-made wellness program for children and teens ensuring they don’t miss out on the pampering. The resort also has a dedicated yoga pavilion and 24-hour fitness center; guests can join classes in aqua aerobics, HIIT training, Pilates, and more.
