Opening its doors just in time for the FIFA World Cup 2022, The Chedi Katara Hotel & Resort, Doha, Qatar is now welcoming travelers to its palatial digs within the 100-hectare Katara Cultural Village, a major attraction about a half-hour’s drive from Hamad International Airport. Guests will find theaters and concert halls, exhibition galleries, and a clutch of restaurants and shops right on their doorstep; Arabian hospitality and personalized service are hallmarks of this inaugural Qatari outpost by GHM, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.
The beachfront resort’s aesthetics and opulent interiors represent a blend of Mughal and Ottoman architecture. While the main wing encompasses 59 guest rooms and suites with views of the Arabian Gulf, The Chedi Katara is also home to 32 villas of varying layouts, each extending into its own garden with a plunge pool. On top of access to The Chedi Club, travelers who stay in a Chedi Club room or above will enjoy complimentary daily breakfast and afternoon tea, as well as free laundry service.

Inside the resort’s high-ceilinged Lobby Lounge.
Situated on the ground floor, all-day venue The Restaurant features four show kitchens plating up Arab, Indian, Thai, and Japanese dishes, and patrons have the option of dining beneath coffered ceilings or outdoors on a large patio. The Lobby Lounge is the spot for afternoon tea while taking in Mughal- and Ottoman-inspired artworks, and the neighboring Cigar Lounge is a retro smokers’ den with plush leather armchairs, wood-paneled walls, and antique-style chandeliers. The Beach Restaurant occupies a separate sea-facing pavilion; its menu showcases modern European cuisine and freshly caught seafood cooked on a Josper grill.
For wellness-minded guests, The Spa at The Chedi Katara Hotel & Resort delivers a range of Asian-inspired aromatherapy, Ayurvedic, and herbal treatments. The space comprises separate men’s and ladies’ areas (each with their own spa suites and hammams) plus a couples’ treatment room. Other recreational facilities include the main pool, a family-oriented pool on the deck of The Beach Restaurant, and a private stretch of sand beyond.
