Etihad Airways has been creating quite the buzz for itself lately. The airline only began flying in 2003, but since then, it has made an order for over 200 new aircrafts in one sitting, introduced the industry’s first commercial multi-room cabin, and now, it has called upon the star power of Nicole Kidman to be the face of its new global campaign.
Etihad’s new “Flying Reimagined” brand campaign sees the Australian actress star in and narrate a sumptuous television commercial that plays more like a short feature film than the average quick-fire ad. Shown across global TV stations and social media, with still versions appearing in print, digital, and outdoor channels, the campaign aims to relay the airline’s positioning as an innovator in the industry.
“Nicole Kidman, as a globally respected artist, was the perfect voice and face for our story, and embodies worldly sophistication, intelligence, originality, and elegance—values which form the foundations of the Etihad brand,” said Peter Baumgartner, Etihad Airways’ chief commercial officer. “Etihad Airways is constantly pushing boundaries, taking inspiration from the world to provide a superlative in-flight experience for our guests. We are rewriting the rule book and reimagining flying by breaking away from convention and leading the way in innovation, design, style and hospitality.”
Or, as Nicole Kidman simply puts it in the campaign’s closing line, “Their goal isn’t to improve on what has been done before—but to totally reimagine it.”
