To celebrate the fact that more than 100 of its aircraft are now fitted with the Super Wi-Fi service, which was launched two years ago, Qatar Airways is rolling out an additional perk for customers over the next 100 days. All passengers flying the Doha-based airline from now until January 2, 2021 will be able to stay connected with loved ones and colleagues on the ground for free—and for the entire duration of their flights—by using the onboard Wi-Fi connectivity. Under normal circumstances, travelers receive an hour’s complimentary access; full-flight use of the Wi-Fi service will need to be purchased.

According to a just-released statement, Qatar Airways says it now offers the largest number of aircraft equipped with high-speed broadband connectivity in Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa. The airline’s Super Wi-Fi service harnesses GX Aviation technology from Inmarsat, a global mobile satellite communications provider.

Qatar Airways Group chief executive Akbar Al Baker said in the same statement: “During these challenging times, Qatar Airways continues to lead and innovate, providing our passengers with the five-star experience they have come to expect from the World’s Best Airline. We are delighted to bring high-speed broadband connectivity to all our loyal passengers for the duration of their flights, from departure to arrival.

“Not only does this showcase the exceptional Qatar Airways service at a time when other airlines are using the current market challenges as a reason to reduce their Wi-Fi offerings,” he added. “It also proves that our mission to connect people around the world does not start and end with just travel. We understand the importance, especially in recent months, of enabling people to be connected at all times, whether on the ground or 35,000 feet in the air.”
